Alta Garrotxa shares its conservation strategy

The 2nd Nature Conservation Congress, organised by the Nature Conservation Network with support from the Government of Catalonia, brought together professionals, public authorities, organisations and research centres to share experiences and discuss the sector’s challenges. The event took place a few days ago; the article was published on 19 October 2026.

Alta Garrotxa presented a talk on planning and managing a mosaic landscape to conserve nature. It highlighted the coordination of various plans to restore open habitats, protect biodiversity, support extensive livestock farming and prevent forest fires.

The event also provided an opportunity to learn about projects in other areas and underscored the importance of working with farmers, economic sectors and other stakeholders to make progress in conservation.
