Increased patrols in the Alta Garrotxa: Guardes Rurals focus especially on Sadernes and the Muga

During the summer season the Consorci de l’Alta Garrotxa once again deployed the Guardes Rurals service to monitor public use at the most visited spots in the Espai Natural Protegit. Along the Sadernes–Sant Aniol axis, 102 service days were carried out with intensified attention at parking areas and iconic pools such as Pont del Llierca, els Torçats, el Gorg Blau and the area around the refuge of Sant Aniol and Talaixà.
In this period 378 notices were recorded for various incidents (dogs, improperly parked vehicles, overnight stays and other improper behaviours), and several reports were processed, mainly for camping, motorized access where it is restricted, and extraction of mastic; the number of reports has been reduced by roughly half compared to the previous year.
In the Muga area the service logged 21 days, focusing on Albanyà, Sant Llorenç de la Muga, the pools and points such as Pont del Bertran and Pont de Sant Antoni. There 3 reports were filed for motorized access to restricted zones and notices were handled for unleashed dogs, parking, setting up tables and hammocks and overnight stays; in Albanyà an improvement in parking management is highlighted.
The Guardes Rurals’ work has been coordinated with information officers, town councils, local residents and security forces to respond more quickly to incidents. The Consorci maintains the goal of adjusting surveillance deployments according to the needs of each place to better protect the natural area.
