The Salt del Brull, Sant Aniol's hidden waterfall

The Salt del Brull waterfall between rock walls

The Salt del Brull is the final reward of the Sant Aniol walk: a waterfall dropping between two vertical limestone walls, in a narrow, shady corner at the head of the valley.

You can't drive there. First walk the Sant Aniol stream route to the Sant Aniol d'Aguja hermitage (about two hours from Sadernes) and, from there, follow the path that starts beside the spring and heads upstream. Allow about 40 minutes there and back from the hermitage.

Making the most of the day

Leave the campsite early, walk the stream route slowly with stops at the pools, have lunch in the shade at the hermitage and go up to the Salt del Brull in the early afternoon. Then return to Sadernes the same way or, if you're experienced and have a head for heights, via the Salt de la Núvia.

The waterfall carries most water in spring and after rain. In summer the flow drops, but the spot stays cool and shady.

Take care

Wet rock is very slippery: don't climb the walls or go near the base of the waterfall when it's running hard. Wear shoes with good grip and head back with plenty of daylight: the return to Sadernes is long.
